Stronger in 10 Minutes a Day – Start with These 3

If you’ve ever felt a bit stiff after gardening…
If you’ve found your knees ache after a longer walk than usual…
Or your back twinges after reaching or lifting…

You’re not broken — and you’re not alone.

These are common signs that your body is doing more work than it should, simply because the right muscles aren’t doing their jobs.
Think of your body like a team. When your core takes a backseat, the knees, shoulders, or lower back are left to carry the load — and that’s when discomfort begins to show up.

But the good news is: you can fix it with just a few minutes a day.

Here are 3 simple exercises I give my clients to help them get strong, balanced, and ready for a season of movement — without needing a gym or fancy equipment.

Exercise 1: Scaption

This one is gold for improving posture and waking up the shoulder stabilizers (the ones that keep you from getting that dreaded gardening shoulder pain).

Stand tall with arms by your sides, thumbs pointing up.

Raise your arms forward at a 45-degree angle (think a “V” shape in front of you) to shoulder height.

Lower slowly. You should feel this in the abdominals. You’ll also feel this between your shoulder blades — and that’s a good thing.

Exercise 2: Sit-to-Stand

This isn’t just a leg move — it’s core, posture, hip alignment, and balance all in one.

Sit in a sturdy chair with feet flat on the floor.

Stand up without using your hands, and fully straighten at the top by bringing your buttocks forward.

To sit, push your hips back like you’re aiming your tailbone for the chair.

Want a challenge? Hover above the seat for 2 seconds before standing again. Repeat 10-15 reps. Optional: pause before
touching the chair.

Exercise 3: Static Balance Hold

Balance work is your secret weapon for fall prevention and confidence in every step you take.

Stand tall and shift your weight onto one leg.

Lift the opposite foot just slightly off the ground without letting it touch the other leg.

Hold for 30 seconds without tipping, leaning, or counterbalancing.

Switch legs.

It’s harder than it sounds — and more important than most people realize.

 Spring Strength Starter Routine

Do these for just 10 minutes a day, a few times a week — and I promise, you’ll feel the difference.
Your body will feel more stable.
 Your joints will feel lighter.
And you’ll trust your movement again — whether you’re pulling weeds or climbing hills.

In my next email, I’ll talk about one of the biggest hidden causes of injury as we age — and how to spot if your body is showing early warning signs of muscle imbalance.

Until then, stay strong and stay moving,
